The Volt
General Motors to launch new electric car... The VoltOn Tuesday, the General Motors Corporation announced its Chevrolet Volt electric car will reach fuel economies of 230 miles per gallon with in town driving. The Volt has yet to be tested by federal regulators, but, if this estimate proves to be accurate, it will be the first American car with a fuel economy of over 100 miles per gallon.
If all goes as planned, the Volt will roll into showrooms in late 2010 but it will come with a hefty price tag; initial pricing estimates put the Volt at around $40,000. GM has stated that consumers can receive government tax credits of up to $7,500. They profess that the credits combined with fuel savings make it a very affordable vehicle.

Its A Stick UP!
A 50-year-old man was arrested on Monday, police revealed. Some $65 million in merchandise was stolen in the August 6 robbery.On Tuesday police released surveillance camera photos of two men sought for questioning over the heist as well as images of some of the rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches taken from Graff Jewellers on central London's New Bond Street. A total of 43 items were taken, with a value of about £40 million, or about $65 million, Scotland Yard said.The heist occurred Thursday, when two men walked into the jewelry store at about 4:40 p.m. and threatened employees with handguns. As the robbers were leaving the store, they brought a female worker outside with them before leaving in a blue BMW, Scotland Yard said. A shot was fired outside the store, but no one was injured.

The Eighty81 Fashion Show
Eighty81 put on their first fashion show on Friday night, and it was a pretty great time. Hopefully it was just the first of many that they will be doing. Local brands, local celebrities and performances by Fly Union and Big Sean were a few of the highlights. And the biggest local celebrity of them all even took part in the event. LeBron, along with Savannah, were the last two to walk the runway, which was the perfect finale to the show.

Sexual Accuser
University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino told police that he had consensual sex with Karen Cunagin Sypher at a Louisville restaurant where he'd been drinking on Aug. 1, 2003.He also told police that he later gave Sypher $3,000 to have an abortion, according to Louisville Metro Police reports The Courier-Journal obtained under the Kentucky Open Records Act.
But Pitino denied Sypher's allegations that he raped her at Porcini, after the restaurant closed, and again a few weeks later at a different location, police records show.

Found Guilty
A New Orleans jury has found Corey “C-Murder” Miller guilty of second-degree murder, in relation to January 12, 2002 death of 16-year-old Steve Thomas.Yesterday a jury of seven women and five men told Judge Hans Liljeberg they were initially deadlocked over Miller's guilt regarding the shooting death of the teenager during a dispute in Club Platinum, a defunct nightclub in Harvey.
Judge Liljeberg ordered them to continue deliberating stating that he had juries with lessor charges deliberate for over eight hours.
Prosecutors wrapped up their closing arguments to the jury around 10:00 am, while Miller’s attorney finished his around 10:40 AM yesterday.
Today, the jury came back with a guilty verdict, although Judge Liljeberg voided the verdict, claiming one juror may have rushed to a decision of guilt in order to end the trial.
